The first season of Close Enough consisted of a total of eight half-hour episodes, mostly comprised of two 11-minute segments, with the final episode being full-length. The season was released on HBO Max on July 9, 2020.

The season made its television debut on TBS on October 25, 2021.

Plot overview[]

The series is described as a surreal take on transitioning from twentysomething to thirtysomething. The show revolves around a married couple juggling such everyday challenges as parenthood, friendship, ham theft, stripper clowns, and choosing the right daycare.

The series was originally picked up in July 2017 for a 2018 release on TBS. The series never ended up airing and no new announcement was made since.

In October 2019, during the HBO Max upfront, it was revealed that the series would instead be released on the service.

On May 13, 2020, it was revealed the series would premiere on July 9, 2020. On June 15, 2020, the first episode was released early online for members of the 2020 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Originally a total of 221 minutes of content (10 half-hours) was supposed to be produced,[3] but only eight of them were released.
