Randall "Randy" Watson is a regular character on Close Enough. He is the property manager of the apartment building where the main characters live, and the adopted son of Pearle Watson.
He is voiced by James Adomian.
Overview[]
Randy is an eccentric man in his late 30s. He is basically unemployed, despite the fact that he is the property manager of the apartment building owned by his adoptive mother. This, however, is not a real job, as he does not actually get paid and still lives under the direct care of his mother.
His usual demeanor is off-putting to most women, including the ones living in his mother's apartment complex; but he is unresponsive of that fact. He lives his life in a carefree manner, seeking adventure and thrill. He often acts on impulse, and does whatever the situation demands.
Physical appearance[]
Randy is somewhat slender in build, though he has a noticeable paunch. He has orange hair with a matching mustache, an apricot skin tone with tan lines, and has sparse patches of hair on his chest and armpits. His attire usually only consists of a pair of sunglasses - usually worn on his forehead - and cutoff blue jean shorts.
Relationships[]
Family[]
- Pearle - Pearle is the center of Randy's universe. He loves his adoptive mother very much and is protective of her.
- Wyatt and Deborah Trickle - They are Randy's biological parents who were also thieves who stole gas from cars. After Randy was born they often threw him at Pearle, who back then was still a policewoman, to create a distraction and escape. After they ended in jail they kept doing the same thing whenever Randy was handed to them since Pearle wanted them to take him back, making it clear that they didn't care about their child at all. Upon meeting them as an adult, he got along well with his birth parents until it was revealed that they were still doing crime and abandoned him once again after finding out that they were only using him.
Friends[]
- Josh Singleton and Alex Dorpenberger - Josh and Alex are Randy's two closest and most dependable friends. All three men help each other out whenever they can.
- Genevieve - Randy is friends with the widow of the greatest stuntman who ever lived.
Others[]
- Candice - Randy seems to be on good or at least neutral terms with Candice. He was rather impressed when Candice helped him make a scrapbook page and stated that children are the future.
- Pearle's Boyfriend - Randy is accepting of Pearle's Boyfriend and is happy to have him as a part of their life. He even goes so far as to call him "Dad."
Trivia[]
- Randy resembles a Death Kwon Do practitioner - particularly the Sensai - from J.G. Quintel's previous series, Regular Show.
- He is a highly adept stunt performer, as seen in "Golden Gamer".
- He also appears to have a stuntman license, though it was not clearly seen.
- He is considerably skilled at skipping rocks, as seen in "Snailin' It".
- His full name can be seen on his boarding pass in the pre-intro scene of "Handy".
- This scene also reveals that he wears leopard-print boxer shorts under his cutoffs, and has a matching neck pillow and rolling suitcase.
- Randy is similar to another character named Randy from a different adult cartoon: Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series.
- Like Randy Watson, the Randy from Trailer Park Boys (whose last name is unknown) is the property manager of the main characters' house(s), never wears a shirt, is openly gay and acutely socially inept.
- It is revealed in "Randy Free Solos" that Randy is gay.
