HBO Max (formerly known as Max) is an American subscription service from Warner Bros. Discovery. This service launched on May 27, 2020. It was first rebranded to Max on May 23, 2023, and rebranded back to HBO Max on July 9, 2025. It draws from all corners of Warner Bros. Discovery and third-party content providers.
Casey Bloys, programming president of HBO, oversees HBO Max programming while Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer, also is the chief content officer of HBO Max taking care of all new originals and library content. Andy Forssell is the service's executive vice president and general manager while still reporting to Otter Media CEO Tony Goncalves, who leads development.
On October 29, 2019, it was announced that Close Enough would stream as a web television series on HBO Max due to the cancellation of the TBS date.[1]
The series was removed from the platform in August 2022.
