Candice

Candice Singleton is the 6-year-old daughter of Josh Singleton and Emily Ramirez, and the tritagonist of Close Enough. She first appears in the Season 1 episode "Quilty Pleasures". Candice is voiced by Jessica DiCicco.

Biography[]

"Candice is Josh and Emily’s daughter. She’s five years old but reads at a four-year-old level. What she lacks in brainpower, she makes up for in heart. She loves being with everyone in the apartment, and thinks kids who live with only their mom and dad and not also a whole other divorced couple are really missing out." ^[1]

Physical appearance[]

Candice is a six year old human girl. She has a fair skin tone, and medium brown hair tied into two pigtails with off-white bands, with some of it worn loose in the back along with some side bangs, a similar style to her mother along with sharing her nose shape. She wears a pink shirt with a pink cat face design on it, aqua-colored shorts, and black flats.

Personality[]

Candice is relatively smart for a kindergartner, though she can be just as silly and innocent as most girls her age. Additionally, Candice may have a learning disability, as she has scored poorly on several of her tests, though she has been shown to be capable of learning quickly when she has to and demonstrate skillful planning. Candice also has a tendency towards hyperactivity, which is only exacerbated if she consumes candy (which Josh and Emily typically disallow).

Josh - Candice seems to have the most fun with Josh; they both bond over skateboarding and video games.

Emily - Candice and Emily are very close and Emily seems to be more responsible of taking care of Candice more than Josh, but sometimes Emily can be a little authoritarian towards Candice.

Maddie - Candice and Maddie are really close friends. No matter the things they go through they still are a good duo.

Others[]

Pearle Watson - Candice seems drawn to Pearle as a sort of surrogate grandmother. Similarly, Pearle seems to care a great deal about Candice, and has even babysit her on a few occasions.

Mr. Campbell - Candice seems to respect her teacher at Chamomile Elementary, though she seems indifferent to him otherwise.

Alex Dorpenberger - Alex does not understand or can be pretty irresponsible when taking care of Candice, but they barely interact in the show.

Trivia[]

In "Skate Dad", Emily revealed that Candice was once bitten by a coyote.
- She also revealed that Candice had been excited about being bitten, as she thought she was going to turn into a werewolf.
In "Prank War", it is revealed that Candice can’t eat candy because it makes her incredibly hyperactive and strong.
In "Birthdaze", Emily reveals that Candice loves all varieties of cake, while Josh reveals that she likes strawberries.
Candice turns six years old in the Season 2 episode "Birthdaze". She is the second member of the gang to celebrate a birthday within the show, the first being Bridgette who turns 26 in the Season 1 episode "Clap Like This".
