Close Enough Wiki

Becca is a minor character appearing in "Houseguest From Hell". She is an old acquaintance of Emily Ramirez, whom she met on her first day of college, although she is very obnoxious and self-centered, and Emily only stays in touch with her due to her pushover tendencies making her feel obligated to.

Physical appearance[]

Becca is a woman in her 30s with light skin, long, medium-brown, breast-length hair, prominent pink lips, a somewhat prominent nose, and a beauty mark on the upper right side near her mouth. She wears a white cropped tube top, black high waist, wide pants, and brown slip-on shoes. She also wears a purple bracelet on her left wrist, light purple eyeshadow and black mascara for makeup, and a pink hair clip in her bangs at her temple. In Emily's contact photo of her on her phone and when they have drinks together she wears a tan sunhat, and she is also shown with a white Chanel handbag.

A montage showing her and Emily from their college years to 5 years previous show that Becca has had the same hairstyle since her freshman year of college, and almost all her outfits, which resemble styles from the 2000s era, expose her stomach or waist in some way.

Personality[]

Becca is selfish, vain, lazy, and rude. She and Emily met and were roommates in college, or at least during their freshman year. She is very self centered, always going on about herself and complaining about her problems relating to her personal and dating life whenever she’s around Emily to the point she can’t get a word in and has no choice but be forced to listen to her. Meanwhile, despite calling Emily her "best friend", Becca takes no interest in Emily's feelings or life, to the point she keeps calling Josh "Jersh" and doesn’t remember he’s married to Emily, nor does she remember they have a daughter, calling Candice "Tiny Butler" and treats her like one, despite the fact she was a bridesmaid at Josh and Emily's wedding and was at one point in the delivery room with Josh and Emily when the latter was in labor with Candice. When Emily reminds her of the former she says she doesn’t think that’s true as she looks at her phone hardly paying attention.

She also took advantage of Emily's kindness and her tendency to be a doormat, such as making her cut her hair one time in sophomore year because their lengths were "too match-y", and borrowed all her clothes and never gave them back - in the present her excuse is that she’s "the long hair friend" and it’s not her fault everything looks hotter on her - and making her meet her on her side of town and pay for drinks when they meet up in the present. After unintentionally convincing her to breakup with Luc, a tearful Becca shows up at Emily's door asking to stay for just one night, saying she’s only asking her because she’s her best friend and it’s technically her fault but she can be homeless if she wants her to, guilt tripping her into agreeing.

During the two weeks she stays at the duplex, she also takes advantage of the other roommates, such as hogging the shower and using Bridgette's beauty products, hogging the TV and not letting Josh watch anything, and moving all of her things into the walk-in closet where Alex sleeps and getting rid of his stuff.

She is seen as unbearable by everyone, even Emily, who still stuck by her due to her being her oldest friend and feeling obligated to see her every few years when she asks to, and being afraid to stand up for herself. After Becca reveals that she’s pregnant with her boyfriend Luc's child, Emily would feel like a monster if she threw her out with no where else to go. But after putting up with her as a roommate in "Houseguest From Hell", and Becca claiming Emily was selfish, Emily had finally had enough and stood up to Becca, and when it still doesn’t get through to her she tells her to get out of her house and life for good.

Despite this, before she leaves with Luc and her child, Becca tells Emily that she’s cutting her out, as she believes Emily to be the toxic one, to which Emily justifiably tells Becca to go to hell and slam the door on her face.
